Operations

Segment your business into service divisions and give each one its own branding and document defaults.

Operations segment your business — service lines like Tree Care or Snow Removal, or branches like a North Office. Almost everything in BranchSite can carry an Operation: jobs, members, custom inputs, routes, and reports. Most companies start with one Operation per service line.

Where Operations show up

  • Jobs carry an Operation, which drives filtering, reporting, and which documents render for the job.
  • Members can be restricted to specific Operations, or given All Operations — see Member profiles.
  • Route Planner drivers have a default operation that pre-filters their visit pool.
  • Reports can group and filter by Operation — see the sales-by-operation report in Sales reports.
  • Custom inputs can be scoped to appear only for certain Operations — see Custom inputs.

Add or edit an Operation

  1. Open Operations from the sidebar's Setup group (requires operation-management permission).
  2. Click Add Operation, or click an existing row to edit it.
  3. Fill in the basics:
    • Name — what appears in pickers throughout the app.
    • Code — a short identifier (e.g. GTC, PHC), reserved for future QuickBooks Class sync.
    • Color — the Operation's color in lists and on scheduling surfaces.
  4. Save.

You can drag Operations to reorder them, which sets the order they appear in pickers. Deleting an Operation doesn't affect existing assignments — it just stops appearing in pickers; the list shows an in-use count so you know what you're touching.

Per-Operation document branding

Each Operation's drawer has a Document branding section that overrides the company info shown on documents for jobs in that Operation. Blank fields inherit the account-level values from Company information. You can override:

  • Company name, Email, Phone, Fax, Website, and address lines.
  • Logo — its own logo on documents, falling back to the account logo when removed.
  • Primary color and Secondary color for document styling.
  • Proposal acceptance text — shown to customers for this Operation after they accept.
  • Default terms — the terms printed on this Operation's documents, or the account default.
  • Sending email (local part) — the address customers see on emails for this Operation.

This is how one account runs two brands: a lawn division and a tree division can each send documents under their own name, logo, and reply address.

Per-Operation document templates

The Document templates section picks default templates — proposal, invoice, work order, and their job-level variants — for jobs in this Operation. A document type appears here only when there is more than one template to pick from; blank inherits the account default. Marking a choice Locked prevents it from being overridden at the job level.

An Additional documents section lets you attach PDFs (up to 10 MB each) that are appended to every rendered proposal or invoice for jobs carrying this Operation — terms sheets, insurance certificates, service brochures.
