Client Acceptance
What clients see at the acceptance link: options, e-signature or one-click accept, deposits, and declines.
When you send a proposal, the client gets a secure acceptance link — no portal login required. The acceptance page shows the full proposal, lets the client choose their options, collects a signature (or a one-click confirmation), and can take the deposit immediately. When they accept, the job moves to Active automatically.
What the client sees
The page is headed Proposal for the client's name, with a View full proposal (PDF) link to the formal document. Line items are presented in up to three sections:
- Included — the core scope. These are locked in.
- Recommended — pre-checked add-ons the client can uncheck.
- Optional Add-ons — unchecked extras the client can opt into.
The Estimated Total updates as the client checks and unchecks options. If a deposit is required, the page discloses it before signing — for example, that a deposit of a given amount (or percentage of the estimate) is due upon acceptance. Your Terms & Conditions appear on the page as well.
Signing
Under Your Signature, the client can Draw their signature or switch to the Type tab and type their full name, then enter their Full Name (required) and optionally an email address, and click Accept & Sign.
Two account settings under Setup → Settings → Jobs control this step:
- Require clients to sign to accept proposals — when off, no signature is collected; the client accepts by checking I have read and agree to the Terms & Conditions. and clicking Accept Proposal.
- Require a typed signature — when on, clients must type their name instead of drawing.
Deposits and prepay after acceptance
After accepting, the client sees a confirmation. If the job requires a deposit and online payments are set up, a Pay Deposit button lets them pay it right there by card or bank transfer. If the job offers a prepay discount, a Pay in Full option shows how much they save by paying the whole contract up front. Bank transfers can take a few business days to settle; the page says so while the payment processes.
If online payment isn't available, the confirmation notes that your company will follow up to collect the deposit.
Declining
The page also carries a Decline proposal button. The client can pick a reason (price, went with another company, timing, changed their mind, or other) and add optional details. You're notified, and the proposal is marked rejected with the client's reason. A declined proposal's link can no longer be used to accept.
Link states clients might hit
- Link Expired — the acceptance link is no longer valid; send a fresh one.
- Proposal Updated — a newer version was sent; the client should use the most recent link.
- Already Accepted — the proposal was already signed; no further action needed.
Accepting on the company's behalf
For a handshake deal, use Mark accepted on the job instead — it moves the job to Active without an online signature. If the proposal had Recommended or Optional items still pending, the job page shows a banner asking you to resolve them: Mark all accepted, Mark all declined, or Decide per item. Items left pending will not appear on the invoice.
Groups work the same way from the client's side, with one signature covering every job in the bundle — see Proposal groups.
