Get Paid Online

Connect Stripe so clients can pay invoices and deposits online by card or bank transfer (ACH).

BranchSite uses Stripe for online payments. Once your Stripe account is connected and active, clients can pay invoices, deposits, and prepayments online by card or bank transfer (ACH), and you can keep cards on file for autopay.

Connect Stripe

  1. Open Settings (under Setup in the sidebar) and choose Payment Gateway.
  2. Click Enable online payments. You're taken to Stripe's onboarding flow to enter your business details and bank account.
  3. Complete the Stripe steps and return to BranchSite.

Until Stripe finishes verifying your account, the page shows a status badge:

  • Onboarding in progress — Stripe is still verifying the account. Click Resume onboarding to finish providing the required information.
  • Action needed — Stripe needs more information before the account can accept payments. Click Resume onboarding to resolve it.

Click Refresh status at any time to pull the latest state from Stripe. Once the account is active, the page shows separate statuses for Card payments and Bank transfer (ACH), a Last synced time, and an Open Stripe Dashboard link for payouts and account management.

Turn online payments on or off

The Accept online payments switch controls whether clients can pay online. When it's off, clients can't start new online payments — existing saved payment methods are unaffected. Use this if you need to pause collections without disconnecting Stripe.

What clients can pay online

With online payments active, clients can pay:

  • Invoices — the invoice's public link shows the balance due and a Pay Now button. While paying, clients can check Save my payment info & enroll in autopay to keep the method on file.
  • Deposits and prepayments — after accepting a proposal, the acceptance page offers Pay Deposit (when the job requires one) or Pay in Full (when prepay is enabled). See Deposits & prepay.
  • Portal balances — clients signed into the Client Portal can use Make a payment and manage their saved methods. See Portal payments.

Card payments usually settle right away. Bank transfers (ACH) can take a few business days — the invoice shows a processing notice until the transfer completes.

What connecting Stripe unlocks for your team

  • The built-in Credit Card payment method becomes selectable when staff record a payment (for example, a card payment taken over the phone and processed elsewhere).
  • You can store client cards and bank accounts and send payment setup links. See Stored payment methods.
  • Autopay charges become available.
  • Refunds of online payments go back to the client's card or bank account through Stripe. See Record payments.

Note: The built-in Bank Transfer (ACH) method is reserved for online settlements — BranchSite records those payments automatically when Stripe confirms them, so staff can't select it when recording a manual payment.
