Stored Payment Methods

Keep client cards and bank accounts on file securely, and manage defaults and autopay flags.

BranchSite can keep a client's cards and bank accounts on file for autopay and faster payments. The card details themselves live with Stripe — BranchSite stores only a reference (brand, last four digits, expiration), so your team never sees or handles full card numbers. Storing methods requires an active Stripe connection (Get paid online).

Where methods on file live

Open a client's detail page and choose the Payment Methods tab. Each saved method shows its Method (Card, or Bank account (ACH)), Expires date, and whether it's the Default and has Autopay enabled. Deleted methods are collected in an Archived group.

Add a payment method

The client enters their own details on a secure Stripe page — you send them the doorway:

  1. On the client's Payment Methods tab, click Add payment method.
  2. The Send a payment setup link dialog opens with a secure Stripe link. Choose Open link (to hand your screen to the client or take details in person), Copy link, or Email link to send it.
  3. The client fills in a card or bank account on Stripe's page. Once saved, the method appears in the tab — refresh if it doesn't show right away.

Clients can also add methods without staff involvement:

  • While paying an invoice online, by checking Save my payment info & enroll in autopay.
  • From the Client Portal's Payment Methods page, using Add payment method.

Note: If the client's profile has Don't save credit card info turned on, BranchSite won't offer to keep a card on file for them. Already-saved cards aren't removed by that setting.

Manage a saved method

Open the actions menu on any row:

  • Make default — the default method is the one autopay charges.
  • Enable autopay / Disable autopay — controls whether this method participates in Autopay.
  • Delete — removes the method from the client's file and from Stripe. This can't be undone, and a method can't be deleted while it has an autopay charge in progress.

Clients can do the same for their own methods in the portal: make a method default, toggle autopay, or remove it.
