Map Pins
What the Route Planner's pin colors, icons, and badges mean — and how to fix a misplaced pin.
Every visit and task with a usable address appears as a pin on the Route Planner map. Addresses are geocoded to place pins, so a stop only shows up once its client location has an address the map can resolve. Pin color tells you the stop's status at a glance; the Legend in the bottom-left corner of the map is always there as a reminder.
Visit colors
- Orange — Unscheduled / Unassigned. The work still needs a route.
- Green — Scheduled & Assigned. It's on a driver's lane.
- Blue — Completed.
- Gray — Approved.
Task colors
- Orange — unscheduled or unassigned.
- Green — To Do (scheduled and assigned).
- Blue — In Progress.
- Dark — Complete.
- White with a dark border — With Job on Site (a task attached to a job at that location).
In the Legend, visit swatches are round and task swatches are square, so you can tell the two families apart even where colors repeat.
Pin icons and badges
Inside each pin you'll see one of:
- A house (visits) or clipboard (tasks) — the defaults.
- An item-specific icon — an Item can set a Route Planner Icon (Tree, Truck, Plow Truck, Leaf, Spray, or Snowflake) so a glance tells you what kind of work the stop is. See Items catalog.
- A number — when Show days since last visit is on in your Routing settings, the pin shows how many days it's been since that location was last completed, instead of an icon. Locations with no completed history keep their icon.
Tooltips and clicks
Hover a pin to see the client name, the visit or task title, and the estimated total. Click a pin to highlight it and its row in the unscheduled list; click again to clear the highlight.
When a driver's route is drawn on the map (click the driver's name on their lane), the route line connects the stops, with small numbered markers at the start and end points.
Fix a misplaced pin
If geocoding drops a pin in the wrong spot — a new street, a long rural driveway — drag the pin to the right place. A Move pin? dialog confirms before saving; click Move pin and the corrected coordinates are stored on the client location, so every future visit there maps correctly.
Note: Moving pins requires permission to edit clients. Without it you'll see a message that you need client edit permission.
Overlapping pins and map controls
When several stops share an address or sit very close together, the planner groups them based on the Pin overlap zoom setting (Neighborhood, City, or State) on the Routing settings page. Use the Fit map to markers button to zoom the map so every pin is in view.
When a stop has no pin
Rows in the unscheduled list with a warning icon have no usable location — the address couldn't be geocoded. These stops can't be routed or optimized until you fix the client location's address. See Locations.
