Route Capacity
Cap how much work each driver can take in a day and see at a glance when a lane is over.
Route capacity puts a daily quantity limit on each driver's lane — useful when a route is constrained by volume rather than hours, like yards of mulch on a truck or number of fertilizer applications. Once set up, every lane shows a capacity badge that turns red the moment a route is overloaded.
Set it up
Capacity is built from three settings:
- Flag the items that count. On an Item in your catalog, turn on Include in route capacity. Only quantities of flagged items count toward the badge — everything else is ignored. See Items catalog.
- Give each driver a cap. On the Members page, open a driver's route settings and set Route capacity — the total per-day quantity that driver can handle.
- Turn on enforcement display. On the Routing settings page, enable Honor route capacities. When this is off, no capacity badge renders on any lane.
Read the badge
Each lane header shows the badge next to the driver's name:
- Green
used/cap— the lane's flagged-item quantity is at or under the driver's cap (for example18/25). - Red
used/cap— the lane is over capacity (for example32/25). Hover the badge to see the numbers spelled out. - — — the driver has no Route capacity set, so there's nothing to compare against.
The "used" number is the sum of actual quantities of capacity-flagged items across the visits scheduled on that driver's lane for the day. It updates as you drag stops on and off the lane.
Note: The badge is informational — the planner warns you but doesn't stop you from dropping more work onto an over-capacity lane. Use it as a dispatch guide, not a hard gate.
Example
Say your mulch item is flagged for capacity and a truck holds 25 yards, so the driver's Route capacity is 25. As you drag mulch visits onto that lane, the badge climbs: 10/25, then 18/25, still green. Drop one more 10-yard job on and it flips to a red 28/25 — time to move a stop to another lane or another day.
