Plan Routes

Add driver lanes, drag unscheduled visits and tasks onto them, and manage each day's routes.

Planning a route is a drag-and-drop job: pick a day, add a lane for each driver, then drag work from the unscheduled list (or between lanes) until every stop has a driver and a time.

Pick a day and add drivers

  1. Open the Route Planner page.
  2. Use the date stepper in the top bar to move between days, or click Today.
  3. Click Add Drivers and tick the drivers you want lanes for, then click Add. Use Select all to grab everyone at once.

Only drivers marked Include in Route Planner in their member route settings appear in the list. If the dialog is empty, open the Members page and turn that setting on for your drivers.

Find the work to schedule

The left-hand list shows unscheduled visits and tasks. To narrow it down:

  • Type in the search box (Search unscheduled work…).
  • Click Filters in the top bar to filter by Items, Subcategories, Groups, Client Tags, Operations, Assignees, Sales Reps, or a minimum number of days since the location's last visit. Click Apply to use them or Clear to reset.
  • Click Columns to choose which columns show: Client, Location, Estimate, Status, Zip, City, Last Visit, and Labor Hours. You can save the layout with Save for Me, share it with Save for All Users, or go back with Reset to Account Default.

Note: Some accounts require an Operation filter before the list loads. If you see Select an Operation filter, open Filters and choose an Operation first.

Drag work onto a route

Drag a row from the unscheduled list onto a driver's lane. The stop becomes a chip on the lane's time grid, scheduled and assigned to that driver. You can also drag chips between lanes, reorder them within a lane, or drag a chip back to the list to unschedule it (the driver assignment is kept).

A few rules apply when dropping:

  • A locked lane rejects drops — unlock it first.
  • Visits on jobs still in the Lead or Proposal stage can't be scheduled.
  • Work without a usable address can't be routed; fix the client location's address first.

Chips with a start and end time sit at their spot on the time grid; all-day stops appear in a thin strip above the grid. Drag a chip's bottom edge to change its duration. If two stops overlap, or the last stop runs past the end of the workday, the planner shows a warning — it never blocks you.

Work with a chip

Click a chip to open its mini menu:

  • Open or Quick Edit — jump to the visit or task detail.
  • Unschedule — return the stop to the unscheduled list.

Visit chips also show the visit's estimated dollar value at the top of the menu, and each lane's header shows a running revenue total and, if enabled, a capacity badge.

Manage a lane

Each lane header has a lock toggle, the driver's name (click it to draw that route on the map), a menu, and an X to delete the route. Deleting a route returns all chips to the unscheduled list with their assignments retained.

The lane menu offers:

  • Optimize route — see Optimize routes.
  • Reschedule lane to… — move every stop to a new date and/or driver, keeping the order.
  • Reverse route — flip the stop order.
  • Set Route Start/End Location — override where the route begins and ends.
  • Memorize Route — save this order and assignment so future Generate Visits runs pre-route these stops onto the same lane. Memorize All Routes in the top bar does this for every unlocked lane.
  • Email route… — send the driver the Route Sheet PDF.
  • View as driver — open a stop-by-stop route page for that driver and day.
  • Download route sheet (PDF).

Reset a day

Click Unschedule Unfinished in the top bar to return every visit and task on the day that isn't completed or approved to the unscheduled list. Driver assignments are kept, so re-planning tomorrow is fast.
