Work From Trees
Link estimate line items to inventoried trees, add work straight from a tree's pin, and read a tree's full work history.
The payoff of a tree inventory is the linkage: each line of work can name the exact tree it applies to. Crews see "Associated with Tree #4 (Red Oak)" on the work order, clients see it on the proposal, and the tree itself accumulates a permanent history of everything ever proposed or done to it.
Link line items to trees on the estimate
With Tree Inventory enabled, the job estimate gains a Tree column:
- On a line item, click the Tree cell (Select tree).
- Search the property's trees by number or species and pick one. Choose Clear tree association to unlink.
- To link a whole item group to one tree, set the tree on the group header instead — every line in the group inherits it. A child line's tree cell then reads "Inherited from group — edit the group's tree to change."
The + Add Tree button in the column jumps to the job's map with the add-tree action ready, so you can plot a new tree mid-estimate without losing your place.
Add work from a tree's pin
You can also work map-first. Open a tree's pin on the job map and use:
- + Add Item — pick an item from your catalog, adjust the description, Qty, and Unit Price, and the line lands on the current job's estimate already linked to this tree.
- + Add Item Group — same, for a whole item group.
The tree's Items on this Job tab lists every line on the current job linked to this tree, so an estimator standing at the tree can confirm what's already quoted.
What clients and crews see
Linked lines carry their tree on printed documents: the proposal and work order show "Associated with Tree #4 (Red Oak)" under the line, and the document can include the property map with the numbered pins — so there is no ambiguity about which of the seven maples gets the crown reduction.
Read a tree's history
The tree drawer's Tree History tab shows proposed, active, and completed work referencing the tree, grouped into Proposed, Active, and Completed sections, each with a View Details link to the job. For plant-health-care treatments, the history also surfaces the product's active ingredient (AI:) and EPA Reg#, which keeps regulatory answers one click away.
Below the history sits the tree's Journal — dated notes and photos added by your team. See Add and manage trees for how to add entries.
