Visit Splitting
Break one visit's line items into separate visits so the work can happen on different days or with different crews.
Sometimes one sold job turns out to be more than one day of work — the removal happens Tuesday, the stump grinding a week later when the grinder is free. Splitting a visit moves some of its line items onto a new visit on the same job, so each chunk of work gets its own date, times, and crew, while the client still sees a single job and a single proposal.
When splitting is available
The Split button appears on a Job's page, in the job's action bar, when the job is a one-off job billed per visit and its visit has at least two line items that can be moved. Recurring jobs manage their occurrences through their series instead — see Recurring visits.
Split a visit
- Open the Job and click Split.
- In the Split Visit dialog, schedule the new visit: pick a Date with optional Start and End times, or check Leave the new visit unscheduled to schedule it later from the calendar's Unscheduled drawer.
- Under Move to the new visit, check each line item that should move. Whole line items move — quantities aren't divided — and at least one line item must stay on the original visit.
- Finish with one of three saves:
- Save & Close — split and return to the job.
- Save & Edit — split and jump straight to the new visit's detail view on the calendar, ready to assign a crew.
- Save & New — split, then immediately split again. Use this to carve a job into three or more visits in one sitting.
After the split, both visits are ordinary visits on the same job: schedule, reschedule, and assign each one independently, and complete them separately as the work happens. Because the job bills per visit, each visit's line items flow to invoicing when that visit completes.
Note: A split can't be merged back automatically. If you split too far, move the schedule and assignees around instead — the line items themselves stay where you put them.
Splitting across crews
The split dialog doesn't assign crews itself. Use Save & Edit to land on the new visit and add its Assignees there, or drag each visit onto the right team member's row in the calendar's Production view.
