Text Messaging

Register your business for SMS, send texts to clients, and manage text message templates.

BranchSite can text your clients — visit reminders, on-the-way notices, reschedule alerts — from a dedicated business phone number. Before anyone can send a text, your account completes a one-time SMS registration; after that, Text Message appears alongside Email in every Message menu.

Set up SMS (one-time)

U.S. carriers require businesses to register before sending SMS, so BranchSite walks an administrator through registration with The Campaign Registry (TCR). Open Settings, choose SMS Onboarding, and work through the steps (this page requires permission to manage settings):

  1. Acceptable use policy — read and agree to the SMS policy: only text recipients who have consented, honor opt-outs immediately, don't send marketing content, and identify your business in your first message.
  2. Business information — submit your legal entity name, EIN, address, business vertical, and contact details for brand verification. Your full EIN goes securely to the registry and isn't retained by BranchSite — only the last 4 digits are stored. The form locks after submission.
  3. Registration status — watch your Brand and Campaign move from pending to Verified, and a phone number get allocated. Click Refresh status to check for updates; verification can take some time.
  4. Send a test message — once everything shows ready, click Send test SMS to text yourself and confirm the setup works.

Until registration is complete, Message menus show a Set up SMS → link in place of the Text Message option.

Send a text message

  1. Open a job, invoice, visit, client, or a My Day stop card and click Message, then Text Message.
  2. The first time you text a client, confirm consent: check I confirm this customer has consented to receive text messages from us and click Confirm Consent. BranchSite remembers the acknowledgment for that client.
  3. Pick a Template (or write from scratch), confirm the recipient phone numbers — pre-filled from the client's mobile number — and edit the Body. Messages can run up to 1,600 characters; the counter under the body keeps score.
  4. Click Send.

Bulk texting works from the Jobs list too: select rows, then Message → Text Message opens the Send Bulk Text dialog.

Text message templates

Under Setup → Templates, open the Text Message Templates card. Templates work like email templates — same : data-tag typeahead — but they're short plain text, previewed in a phone mock-up so you can see what the client's screen will show. Template types cover Crew Arriving Soon, Visit Reminder, and Reschedule Notification.

Warning: SMS is plain text. HTML shows up in the preview but is stripped from the actual message, so keep templates simple.

Track what was sent

The Text Messages report under Reports logs every outbound text with its recipient, status, and delivery timestamps, with CSV export — the SMS counterpart to the Email Report.
