Manage Members
Change a member's role, remove someone from the account, or transfer ownership.
All member management happens in the Team Members card on the Members page (sidebar Setup group). Each row shows the member's name, email, role, and join date; the row's action menu holds the management actions your own role allows. You can only act on members below your own role level, and nobody can act on the primary owner.
Change a member's role
- Open the Members page and find the member in the Team Members table.
- Open the row's action menu and choose Change Role.
- In the Update Member's Role dialog, pick the new role. The role determines the member's permissions, so review Roles and permissions if you're unsure.
- Click Update Role.
The change applies from the member's next page load — they do not need to sign out and back in.
Note: The new role must differ from the current one, and you can only assign roles at or below your own level.
Remove a member
- Open the member's row action menu and choose Remove from Account.
- Confirm with Remove User from Team.
The person loses access to your account immediately. Records they created — jobs, visits, timesheet entries, notes — remain in place with their name attached, so history and reporting are unaffected. Removing a member also frees up their license seat.
Note: BranchSite has no separate "deactivate" state for members. To take someone's access away, remove them; to bring them back later, send a fresh invitation. If the person was linked to a labor resource, the resource stays — you can mark it inactive or reassign it under Settings → Labor (see Member profiles).
Before removing someone who owns open work, reassign their visits and tasks so nothing is stranded — the Calendar is the quickest place to do that.
Transfer ownership
The account has one primary owner. To hand that responsibility to someone else:
- As the primary owner, open the target member's row action menu and choose Transfer Ownership.
- Type
TRANSFERin the confirmation field to confirm. - Confirm the transfer.
The selected member becomes the primary owner and you keep your membership with your current role. This is the only way to change who ultimately controls the account, so treat it carefully — it cannot be undone by anyone except the new owner.
Leaving a team
Members can remove themselves: the Leave Team action ends your own access. You'll need to be re-invited to return. The primary owner cannot leave without first transferring ownership.
