One-Off and Recurring Jobs
Choose the right cadence for a job — one-time work, a repeating visit pattern, an on-demand contract, or a custom monthly plan.
Every job has a cadence: it either happens once, or it repeats. You pick the cadence when you create the job, and it shapes everything downstream — how visits are generated, how the estimate is priced, and how the job eventually ends or renews.
Create a job
- Open the Jobs page and click New job (the same menu also offers New lead and New proposal — the difference is just which stage the job starts in).
- Pick a Client, an Operation, and enter a Job name. The name helps your team identify the work at a glance — often the address or scope.
- Choose a Visit location from the client's locations, or check Customer Pickup if the customer collects materials from your yard (available when Pickup Jobs is enabled in settings).
- Set the Cadence (see below), build the estimate, and click Create job. Save & New starts another job immediately — turn on Retain client + location on Save & New to pre-fill the same client for the next one.
You can also start from a job template with the Use template button — see templates for proposals.
The four cadences
The Cadence control at the top of the job form offers:
- One-off — a single piece of work. Visits are scheduled by hand from the job's Visits tab or the calendar.
- Recurring (Pattern) — visits repeat on a date rule you define. BranchSite generates the visits for you.
- Recurring (On-Demand) — a contract with a bank of prepaid services. Visits are pulled from the bank when you need them, not on a fixed schedule.
- Recurring (Custom Monthly) — you set how many visits happen each month; BranchSite creates them at the start of each month with dates to be determined.
Recurring (Pattern)
The Recurring service section sets the generation rule:
- Frequency — Weekly (pick the days of the week), Monthly (pick a day of the month, 1–28), or Every N days, each with a repeat-every interval.
- Window — a Start date, and an Ends choice: Never, On a date, or After N occurrences. Open-ended schedules generate up to 365 days of visits at a time and keep adding more as the window rolls forward.
- Pricing basis — whether the estimate total means the price Per visit, the Monthly recurring price, or the Per contract price across the whole series.
- Defaults — a default time (or all-day), default location, default assignees (with one marked Primary), and default tags applied to each generated visit.
A live preview shows the next occurrences as you edit the rule. If the job is still a proposal, the schedule is saved as planned and visits are generated when the proposal is accepted.
For jobs where not every visit does the same work, set How is this job estimated? to Specify items for each visit and assign line items to specific visits; the default, Apply all items to each visit, treats every visit as the full bundle.
Recurring (On-Demand)
On-demand contracts skip the estimate table. Instead you build Contract Entitlements — the items the customer has prepaid for, each with a quantity or left unlimited. Once the contract is active, use Generate Visits to pull entitlements into scheduled visits as work comes up (for example, after each snowfall — you can name the storm to group its visits). The series banner tracks consumption and offers Manage Entitlements, Pause Contract, and End Contract.
Recurring (Custom Monthly)
Set a visits-per-month count for each of the twelve months. The engine materializes each month's visits at the start of that month with TBD scheduling, and a Materialize control on the job lets you create a month's visits early or backfill.
Managing a series
Active recurring jobs show a series banner with the rule summary, upcoming/completed/cancelled counts, and Edit series, Pause series, and End series actions. Pausing halts new visit generation but keeps existing visits on the calendar; resuming can skip missed visits or generate them retroactively. See end jobs for ending a series.
Note: Switching a recurring job back to one-off ends the active series and cancels every future open visit. BranchSite asks you to confirm before it does this.
