Update Costs & Prices in Bulk

Raise or lower prices and costs across the catalog by a percentage, with rounding and margin protection.

When supplier costs move or it's time for an annual price increase, you don't have to edit items one by one. The Edit Price/Cost tool applies a percentage change to the default price and/or cost of many items at once — with optional rounding and built-in guardrails.

Run a bulk update

  1. On the Items tab, use the filters (Category, Operation, Subcategory, search) to narrow the list to the items you want to change.
  2. Select items with the row checkboxes. A bar appears showing how many are selected.
  3. To include every item matching your filters — not just the visible page — select all rows on the page, then click Reprice all … items matching these filters when it appears.
  4. Click Edit Price/Cost to open the Edit Margins dialog.
  5. Set the change:
    • Apply — Increase or Decrease.
    • To — Price, Cost, or both.
    • By (%) — the percentage.
    • Round price up to nearest — optionally round resulting prices up to the nearest 5¢, 10¢, 25¢, 50¢, $1, or $10 (No rounding by default). Costs are never rounded to a step.
  6. Review the example preview (for instance, "eg $95.00 → $99.75"), then click Apply.

A toast confirms the outcome — for example, "Updated 42, skipped 1."

Guardrails

  • Margin stays intact if you change both. As the dialog notes, altering both price and cost by the same percentage maintains the gross margin on the items.
  • No negative values. An item is skipped entirely if the change would make its price or cost negative — the dialog reminds you: "We will only make updates to your items if they do not result in a negative value." Discount items (whose prices are zero or negative) are protected the other way: a change that would give a discount a positive price is skipped.
  • Only defaults change. The update rewrites each item's Default Price and Default Cost in the catalog. Lines already on existing jobs and proposals keep the prices they were created with.
  • Every change is logged. Each item's Activity history records the update, so you can see what changed and when.

Note: Quantity-based pricing tiers are separate from the default price and are not modified by this tool — review tier tables on items that use Quantity Based Pricing after a price change.

Update a single item

For one-off corrections, choose Edit from the item row's Actions menu and change Default Price or Default Cost directly in the Pricing section — the Margin % recalculates as you type.
